A collection of works by Japanese artist Kishio Suga.
It was published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Pirelli HangarBicocca art museum in Milan from September 2016 to January 2017.
The book will be edited by Hasegawa Yuko, a curator and art historian who co-curated the project, and Vicente Todolí, the museum's artistic director.
This book documents the author's first major European retrospective.
The exhibition focuses on the artist's creative activities over a period spanning half a century, including his work as a leader of the Mono-ha art movement in the late 1960s, and includes more than 20 installation works created between 1969 and the present.

"Not to 'express', but simply to 'present', to make present. Kishio Suga's criticism of images and expressions stems from a background of resistance to consumerism, materialism and grandiosity. How can one bring maximum presence to an object while remaining non-expressive? The artist intentionally presents the perceptual reality of visibility and invisibility, presence and non-existence. This is a method of drawing attention to the presence of an object by creating relationships between objects, rather than allowing the object to exist on its own. Since the late 1960s, Suga has been assembling, handling, cutting, lining up, arranging, connecting and bending various objects. He observes materials and tries to understand their weight, texture, surface and other characteristics of different materials, treating them as if they were one with the object, or as if they were a part of the artist himself, exponentially enhancing his ability to perceive." - Yuko Hasegawa
