A collection of works by Erwin Wurm, whose first solo exhibition at a Japanese art museum, "Erwin Wurm: The Human Form," is being held at the Towada Art Center (Aomori Prefecture) from (Sat) April 12, 2025 to (Sun) November 16, 2025.

The video is made up of a few seconds of fragmented action, filmed in 1992 with a fixed camera in a bare concrete-floored room, over a 20-minute period. Their bodies are subject to a bizarre choreography of almost imperceptibly trembling, immobile "objects" and assume comical poses. By using motionless, looped sequences, Wurm aims to explore "whether a physical act can become sculpture, and if so, at what point does the transition occur." Wurm was so struck by the visual power and immediacy of these strange, anthropomorphic forms that he decided to create a series of color photographs based on the video. Following Self-Portrait as 47 Pickles, this is the second in Erwin Wurm's artist book series published by RVB Books.
