"The Book of Fear" references a wide range of photographic conventions and conventions, examining the dynamics between photographer and subject as they collide and thwart one another. At once humorous and serious, it plunges us into a world where social roles are reversed, norms are scrutinized, judgments of taste and value are suspended, and the dead and the living, the true and the false, the sincere and the unnatural all blend together.
