HIROSHIMA TSUTAYA BOOKS Selected Books VOL.275 "nice things.issue.71" Jyoukei Editorial

TSUTAYA BOOKS Nozu's recommendation "nice things.issue.71" Diorama Editing Company

The magazine "nice things." was launched in 2015. It was a lifestyle magazine with the theme of "being close to your lifestyle," and was renamed "Body+," a beauty and health magazine that had been published since 2005. It was a magazine I loved and looked forward to every issue, but it ceased publication with the April 2020 issue due to the publisher's bankruptcy. This was very sad, and it made me realize once again how tough the publishing industry is.
Meanwhile, Tanigai Mitsugu, founder of the publishing company Medium, launched a crowdfunding campaign to republish "nice things.", and the first issue of the revived magazine was released in early October 2020.

The theme of issue.71, the ninth issue since the magazine's revival, which was released in January this year, is "Where you live your life, being yourself, in the place you live."
Before you know it, have you only been thinking about "that place"? Have you only been living within a "certain frame"? Have you accumulated a "sense of discomfort"? Surely everyone is searching for a "place" and what makes them "unique." Something that makes them feel comfortable every day.

The book features beautiful photographs and insightful, thoughtful writing about people who live in places where they feel most like themselves, comfortable and relaxed, such as the hometowns they longed to return to, towns where they can feel the changing seasons up close, and old houses that have been carefully restored over time. These people run a variety of businesses there, including farming, cafes, and restaurants.

"Umi to Yama no Manimani" is a coffee shop located in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, in an area where a village spreads out around the port. "Cave LITRON" in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is committed to natural wine, inspired by the words it heard in France: "Good wine should be shared by everyone." "Shinrin no Bokujo" lives among the trees in Nasu Town, Tochigi, and carefully captures every sound of the cows' breathing, grazing, and footsteps. "Hitofuki" in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, is a teahouse where you can feel close to your skin the rhythm of brewing tea, the way the tea is brewed, and the weight of the tea, all of which differ depending on the teapot, as well as selected tea utensils.

Just looking at the pages of the magazine makes you feel the slow flow of time, connections with people and the land, and a very quiet, gentle warmth.
Where and how to live life in your own way is something that everyone thinks about at various times.
Before you know it, you'll find yourself staying there for a long time, and feeling like you want to breathe and live here someday.
This is a book that anyone, whether they are searching for a place to live or are looking to ponder how to live life in their own way, should leaf through.
