Picture book author Komako Sakai. The combination of her tranquil, beautiful illustrations and poetic, contemplative prose has captivated many people, from children to adults, and she has been highly praised not only in Japan but also overseas.

This book is an exhibition catalog and art book published in conjunction with Sakai Komako's first full-scale solo exhibition, "Listen Clearly, Sakai Komako."
We have selected approximately 300 original illustrations and 30 rough sketches, mainly from over 20 picture books, from his debut work to his latest work.

Drawing paper or cardboard is painted with a base coat of black paint, and then children and animals are depicted on top of it. Time seems to stand still, or in the silence of a snowy day, the eyes hidden behind the eyelids, the furtive gestures, the whispers.
