This is a collection of works by Martin Parr, a British photographer who is a full member of the international photography group Magnum Photos. This is a revised and expanded edition of his photo book "Small World," first published in 1996 (or 1995) by the British publisher Dewi Lewis Publishing.

This work is one of the artist's most popular photobooks and has been reprinted many times since its first publication. This revised edition includes over 80 works, including many of the artist's most iconic works.

This book is the author's sharp and humorous satire of the global tourism industry, highlighting the homogenization of "global culture" in which the tourism industry, which is supposed to seek out different cultures, is destroying the "culture" of the same. In an age of carbon footprints, global warming, and the climate crisis, the issues the author raised nearly 30 years ago when this book was published are even more urgent today.

The book's band of pretentious tourists appear to be willing participants in a ubiquitous consumer culture, but in reality they are perplexing victims, at the mercy of larger social forces and imprisoned by an insatiable thirst for spectacle. These "small world" inhabitants become symbols of the freedoms that come with prosperous Western society, asserting the power and the right to travel, to choose, and to consume.
