The long-awaited book of PRADA's campaign images taken by London-based German photographer Norbert Schollner between 1998 and 2002 has finally been published. The first and second editions sold out in a flash, and this is the third edition.
Prada appointed Schorner in 1998 to replace Glenn Luchford, who had been in charge of Prada's campaign visuals. From the 1990s to the 2000s, people's enthusiasm for technology accelerated at an unprecedented rate, and the Y2K style, which has a deep influence to this day, swept the world. Prada noticed Schorner, who was photographing Comme des Garcons in the 1990s, and together with him embodied the dawn of a minimalist era with his sharp, surreal textures, creating legendary advertising photographs that remain popular to this day.
Just as the author was faithful to the DNA of Prada, this book was created in honesty to the author's highly original campaign photography. The design was handled by Jonny Lu Studio, the creative director of iD and Jamie Hawkesworth's collection TO THE ANTARCTIC. The book is designed with the theme of "archives" in mind, with a cover that resembles the gray cardboard typically used in archive boxes, and four punched holes on the cover to accommodate the book in a file.
