"Happiness Here" is Aki Kondo's first collection of works.
The 50 works included in this book were painted in Kondo Aki's hometown of Sapporo between the winter of 2019 and the spring of 2020.
Kondo Aki's bold and free-flowing brushstrokes, vivid colors, and humorous and imaginative images have touched the hearts of many people. However, Kondo's work is always based on her own unique view of life and death, inspired by her own experiences of loss such as the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The motifs of "Happiness Here" are flowers given in celebration of life, flowers given in appreciation of life, a child gazing into the distance, and empty cups stacked on top of each other; these are images of life itself, flickering away individually while in connection with others.
No matter what the circumstances, he never turns away from painting, and never settles for tragic expressions, but continues to create works that powerfully affirm life in the present.
