Official catalogue for the exhibition of the same name held at the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art.
Yves Klein produced numerous masterpieces in the 1950s and early 1960s during his short 34 years of life.
This exhibition will focus on these works, as well as works by contemporary artists such as Lucio Fontana and Kazuo Shiraga, who were active during the same period, as well as Tomás Saraceno and Harun Mirza, highlighting the theme of "immateriality" that runs through each work across the ages.
The catalogue introduces the exhibition with numerous visuals, including photographs of the works and scenes from the exhibition venue.
The book also includes in-depth essays by Emma Lavine, who curated the exhibition "The Sky as Studio - Yves Klein and His Contemporaries" (Centre Pompidou-Metz, 2020), which was the inspiration for this exhibition, Museum Director Yuko Hasegawa, who curated this exhibition, and Frédéric Migueloux (former deputy director of the Centre Pompidou, Musée National d'Art Moderne de Paris), as well as a detailed timeline.
We will explore the contemporary work of Yves Klein, who sought to connect art to a spiritual dimension.
