This book focuses on the background art that shapes the world of the film, and features 844 of the vast amount of background art that is drawn in each feature film, with over 1,000 pieces drawn in each film. Art director Takeshige Yoji supervised the inclusion of these illustrations. Under the direction of the director, the "Studio Ghibli scenery" has been depicted using a variety of techniques, including brushstrokes, color, perspective, light and shadow, in all 27 films, from 1984's "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" to 2023's "How Do You Live?"
