Tracing the artist's six-decade career, this book reveals his enduring interest in subjects lightly depicted in traditional painting techniques. It celebrates his embrace of the pleasures of the quintessential American summer experience: sweet ice cream, ice-cold sodas, beach games and barbecues, melting the gray winter into fading memories. The catalogue features works from the 1960s through the 2000s depicting beach scenes, hot dogs, ice cream, beach balls and bathing suits.

Most of the works have been provided directly by the Foundation and have rarely been seen in public. The more than 60 paintings reveal the artist's versatility, richness of color and playfulness, as well as his yearning for a sweeter, more nostalgic time.
