About the productJapanese

A collection of works by Japanese photographer Takashi Homma.
This work is a photo essay that features extensive photography of artist Raiki Yamamoto in 2023.

Born in 2006, Reiki's work spans a wide range of genres, including painting, sculpture, installation, and performance, and in 2022 he held his first solo exhibition, "Untitled 1," at "galerie tenko presents." The gallery is an up-and-coming gallery organized and managed by curator Tenko (Tenko Nakajima), and is a project that introduces internationally active artists in an off-site space in Tokyo.
Reiki is based in Tokyo and Kamakura, traveling between the two cities, and in addition to the solo exhibition mentioned above, he has also participated in group exhibitions such as ``Group Show (2022)'' at the art space ``4649'' in Sugamo in 2022 and ``elective affinities Exhibition Part I'' at ``agnès b. galerie boutique'' in 2023.

Takashi Homma, known as one of the most important contemporary photographers based in Japan, portrays the nuances of Tokyo's suburbs, urban areas, and surrounding landscapes, as well as the people who inhabit them, and explores his hometown of Tokyo with a gentle yet thoughtful discourse. He has published many photobooks, and in 1999 he won the 24th (1998) Kimura Ihei Award for his work on "Tokyo Suburbia," his representative and acclaimed masterpiece (published by Korinsha in 1998), and the accompanying project.

This is Honma's first collaborative collection of works with the New York-based publisher DASHWOOD BOOKS.
In the fall of 2024, the publisher plans to co-publish "Portrait of J," a photo book of portraits of Japanese cultural figures, with another New York publisher, SESSION PRESS.
