Photographer YUTARO SAITO, who produces photographic works on the theme of fashion and consumer culture, published "20's STREET STYLE JOURNAL" in November 2021 and is also known for his series "Elderly Street Snap: Not Plastic Fashion" in FASHIONSNAP, has released a new photo book, "20's STREET STYLE JOURNAL #1 NOT PLASTIC FASHION (2030)."
“In my first photo book, “20’s STREET STYLE JOURNAL #1 NOT PLASTIC FASHION,” released in November 2021, I took into account the fashion of the time, which made extensive use of logos and iconic graphics, and in contrast, presented the unique coolness of grandfathers on the street as a form of fashion that was focused on the self.
In this latest work, "20's STREET STYLE JOURNAL #1 NOT PLASTIC FASHION (2030)," we continue to focus on the fashion of elderly men on the street, highlighting the concept of "plastic fashion," which represents superficial consumption in modern society. By collaging cityscapes and portraits as if they are eroding each other, we capture the presence of an elderly man in a representational way, and attempt to consider reason and desire in fashion, the universality of the system of fashion, and the state of fashion in the future.
