About the productJapanese

THE PAPER is a curated magazine produced by TELOPLAN.

This fourth issue, titled "Gu Yun Xin? Quaint Compose Issue," is based on a technique of Chinese poetry called "Gu Yun Xin?" and was created while pondering the idea that new and old are not opposites, but that new is contained within the past, and that the future can be found by going back in time to the past. It was also created while pondering the new image of us humans that can only be seen by returning to the ancient Eastern view of nature in an age when the Eastern view of nature has fallen into disuse and the sense that humans are part of nature has also been lost.

The editorial includes TELOPLAN Autumn Winter 2023 collection look visuals shot by photographer Nico Perez, as well as collaboration visuals taken by photographer Fumika Endo at the Odawara Art Foundation's Enoura Observatory.

The writing project features two pieces: "Unconscious Leaders," which interviewed three women who are bringing about change, one step at a time, starting from the ground up, by turning to the culture and ideas of an era when people coexisted in harmony with nature and had strong connections, to take the global current situation and issues seen from a macro perspective and make them their own problems by doing so; and "Let the Wind Blow," a contribution project that considers the nature of community through the words of cultural figures who are exploring and nurturing forms of connection between people connected to the Yato and Tadao regions of Machida City, Tokyo, and the YATO Project, which attempts to design a structure for cultural events that will continue for the next 500 years by carrying out activities to learn about and experience the history and characteristics of the land that has been formed over a long period of time in the region.

-Unspoilt Land by Nico Perez
-Time to Remember Our Origins by Ayaka Endo
-Unconscious Leaders
-Let the Wind Blow
