About the productJapanese

Issue 25 of "A Magazine Curated By" features guest curator Chitose Abe, founder and designer of sacai.

The book will feature 200 pages of cultural and creative content, with contributions from various people close to the author, including family, friends, artistic collaborators, and fashion brands.

From a cosmopolitan portrait series from Tokyo to Los Angeles with #sacaiTHEpeople, to commissioned projects by chefs, industrial designers, architects, artists, writers and business analysts, the magazine explores the community and high-concept world behind sacai. From material concerns like minimalist architecture and upcycled industrial design to intangible possibilities like CGI production and AI fashion reportage, Abe channels sacai's collaborative spirit into a highly contemporary document that approaches the brand's pillars of hybridity and "security and betrayal" in different ways.

[Main contents]
High-profile friends and community of sacai wear pieces from the personal collection and the pages of the international portfolio, shot by top photographers in their home bases, feature notable names such as Rashida Jones, Kutsuna Shiori, Edison Zhang, Chin Shupei, Dr. Wu, Kubozuka Yosuke, Michel Gobert, Karl Templer, Sarah Andelman, and Black Thought of The Roots.

Styled by Karl Templer, fashion photographer Craig McDean photographed Australian model Julia Nobis on the streets of New York. The book features the Fall/Winter 2023 collection and the limited-edition jewelry collection CARTIER TRINITY FOR CHITOSE ABE of sacai, created by Cartier and Chitose Abe, and tells a fashion story inspired by photographer Eadweard Muybridge. In collaboration with TOO MUCH Magazine, an independent Tokyo-based magazine that focuses on topics related to art and architecture, the book explores the connection between sacai and architecture through in-depth interviews with renowned Japanese architects Sou Fujimoto and Yusuke Seki, who each worked on the extensive renovation of sacai's flagship store, sacai Aoyama.

Paying homage to the American conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner, who collaborated with sacai on their Spring/Summer 2018 men's collection, the film features a new interview with curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist as well as a historic conversation between the pair.

The food story trilogy, "saCOOKBOOK," is comprised of concepts and dishes created specifically for this issue by Toraya, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto, two-star Michelin chef Yoshihiro Narusawa, and Ghetto Gastro, a food collective trio based in the Bronx, New York.

The first part of the issue features an unprecedented interview between Abe Chitose and sacai's creative advisor, Gemma Daisuke, conducted by Tokyo-based counselor Josephine Clayton, who approaches the creative collaboration between the two from a psychological perspective.
The book also features an in-depth business case study and market analysis conducted by Harvard Business School graduate students Sean Horvath and Stephanie Fahy on the evolution of Nike's apparel and footwear collaboration.

Photographer ROLLSWYZE captured Soraki, a beat dancer who has won numerous awards for fusing the worlds of dance and fashion, dancing on the streets of Shinjuku, Tokyo wearing sacai's voluminous designs, including collaborations with Carhartt and Moncler.

The book also includes a print by British fashion photographer Craig McDean.
