"α" is the inaugural issue of "mekashi," a collection of works initiated by make-up UDA and bringing together creators active in a wide range of fields.
It was established as a place where free creation can come to life, a laboratory where beauty can be expressed from a unique perspective, incorporating more personal feelings and sensibilities, and proposing this through photography, graphics and words.

The commemorative first issue is based around the word "awai (space), hasama (space), or aida (space)," and embodies the mental images and aesthetic sense, landscapes, time, and the very nature of Japanese people.
The connections between things, or the space where differences arise, between this world and the next. Although we all feel these boundaries on a daily basis, the more we think about them, the deeper they become, and the more diverse their interpretations become. For "Mekashi" α, we called on creators from Japan and abroad to submit expressive works ranging from visual stories to newly taken photographs, flower arrangements, drawings, and collages.
We hope that it will provide at least some pleasant stimulation to those who pick it up.
