A collection of letters between photographer Tamotsu Fujii and Mikiya Takimoto.
Fujii, who has been active in a wide range of genres, mainly advertising, for nearly 50 years, and Takimoto, who also uses advertising as his home base but has also been garnering attention in recent years as a filmmaker, have a master-disciple relationship and have been friends for over 25 years.
In the spring of 2019, the pair was asked by a gallery to hold a "two-person exhibition," and this prompted the pair to begin exchanging letters of "photos and words." They talked not only about the exhibition, but also about their thoughts on the world today, about everyday events, and even about their thoughts on the profession of photography. They exchanged and shared a variety of thoughts in real time via email, and continued to do so for two years.
Along the way, they faced unexpected events, such as the postponement of the exhibition due to the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in their work environments, which gradually revealed the differences in their thinking. This book records the whole story as it is, conveying how two photographers of different generations face the present era.
