Born in Tokyo in 1933. Graduated from the Department of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1956. Joined Shiseido's Advertising Department in the same year. Joined Kono Takashi's Deska Co., Ltd. in 1959. Became a freelancer in 1960, and established Nakajo Design Office in 1961. Worked on graphic design such as corporate sign planning, CI planning, posters, package design, illustrations, etc. Received numerous awards including the TDC Members' Gold Award, ADC Members' Supreme Award, Kamekura Yusaku Award, Mainichi Design Award, Japan Advertising Award Yamana Award, etc. Received the Medal with Purple Ribbon and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette.
