A collection of works by American photographer Stephen Shore, considered one of the most influential photographers active in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

The negatives of this series of photographs taken on Kodachrome during the production of the artist's masterpiece, Uncommon Places (published in 1982), were discovered, and this is the first time that these works have been compiled into a photo book.
The photographs taken with the 35mm Leica camera he carried around while traveling around the United States to film "Uncommon Places" simultaneously depict both ordinary scenes and unique atmospheres of America.

The book includes a new essay, "Ordinary Speech: The Vernacular in Stephen Shore's Early 35mm Photography," by Britt Salvesen, curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
