With the 1964 and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as its central focus, this book explores the appeal of Kenzo Tange and Kengo Kuma by comparing their similarities and differences, their practices at the Tokyo Olympics, and their connection to Paris. It uses commentary by Kuma and architectural historian Toyokawa Saikaku, as well as an abundance of photographs by photographers Ishimoto Yasuhiro and Takimoto Mikiya, to interpret the architectural philosophies of both men. This is the Japanese and English version of the catalogue for the "Kenzo Tange and Kengo Kuma Exhibition" to be held at the Japan Cultural Institute in Paris in 2027. It also hints at the architectural appeal of Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which is aiming to be registered as a World Heritage Site. (From the official Toto Publishing website)
