GALLERY EN WALL will be holding "MISOJI," a solo exhibition by ery, an illustrator, designer, and musician.

To commemorate the release of "MEMO," a collection of ery's works that condenses her work to date, the exhibition will feature illustrations and illustration goods made using a variety of techniques, including hand-drawn works, silkscreen prints, collages, and digital expressions, created from daily notes. In addition, on the first day, Saturday, November 16th, ery will be present to hold a portrait event. We look forward to your participation.

ery illustration collection "MEMO"

It has been five years since ery's first solo exhibition "25 years old NOW" was held at ROCKET in Omotesando, Tokyo in 2019. This is the first solo exhibition in the Kansai region. This year, ery turns 30 years old, so take a look at how it has evolved even further.

・Artist Statement

I've always longed for something. For the past 30 years, the energy that has driven my creativity has come from a strong longing for something outside myself. Just like how I felt like wearing a red dress, so I wore one, or how I felt like drawing lines, so I tried drawing them. In the evening, I went out wearing the red dress, and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I thought, "Ah, this dress really wasn't right." No matter how much I drew or painted, I would think, "Something wasn't right, I wanted it to be more like this..." and it was a repetition of that every day.

I don't know what I aspire to. Because I don't know, I painfully and joyfully write down my records and ideals on paper, like writing notes every day. I always feel a little sorry before an exhibition for showing off such a self-centered painting in a space that was created with the involvement of so many people, but I would be happy if my paintings can brighten the mood of everyone, even if just a little.

The works will be on sale in-store from 10:00 on Saturday, November 16th.

Some of the works can also be purchased through the online art marketplace "OIL by Bijutsutecho."

■ Full-body portrait

This is a full-body portrait drawn down to the knees. It will be handed over to you on paper.

・Artist profile

ery

Illustrator, designer and musician.

Born in 1994. After graduating from the Department of Design at Nihon University College of Art, she worked as a graphic designer at an advertising agency for three years before going independent. She creates pop designs, mainly illustrations, and is involved in exhibitions, client work, and apparel goods production. She also writes, composes, and releases electronic music, and is currently active both in Japan and overseas as a solo artist under the name "Eryyy." She also serves as a personality on the podcast radio "ery's Noumiso Heaven RADIO."
