Kazumi Sakata (1945-2022) was an antique dealer and a man of great aesthetic sense.
The catalogue for his first solo exhibition in China, "Kodogu Sakata: Our Choice," has been compiled under the supervision of the exhibition's curator, Ryuta Aoyagi. In addition to the 456 works on display (364 illustrations of works) and exhibition views from the Tenmokuri Museum in Hangzhou, China, designed by Renzo Piano, the catalogue includes contributions from Li Lin (founder of Tenmokuri Museum), Tsukimori Toshifumi (a staff member of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum), and Sawayama Ryo (art critic).
The book is made up of an accumulation of 415 sheets/830 pages of paper, and the contents and material forms are presented equally throughout, creating a single volume that allows the reader to choose the order or rearrange the contents.
The exhibition is supervised by the curator Ryuta Aoyagi, and designed by Tomohiro Yokokawa. He is trilingual, Chinese, Japanese and English.
