The author is Sato Tomonori of the We Tojo bookstore in Shobara City, Hiroshima Prefecture.
Junichiro Shimada compiled what he heard from Sato over a period of two years.
Sato, the eldest son of the owner of the Wee Tojo store in a town of about 7,000 people, turned the store, which had been running at a loss, around the clock by continuing to listen to the concerns of the townspeople.
What makes this book so moving is that the We Tojo store, as one of the places the townspeople can turn to for advice, employs young people who have been unable to go to school and supports them in entering society.
Being in a place where there are books and talking to people who want books will gradually heal the hearts of young people.
