About the productJapanese

The concept of "Apartment" is "a literary magazine like a rented house where writers with rich worlds inside live together while misfitting," and it is a literary magazine that includes four works by different writers and genres. Each short story by the four writers is bound into a saddle-stitched book, and the book is bound with a cover illustration by illustrator Asuka Kitahara.

<Included works>
Mai Sekiguchi "About Freedom": I want someone to think well of me. I want to be the person that meets that person's expectations. This is a work of pure literature that records the rambling, never-ending days of a woman who is tired of living her life entrusting her self-worth to the eyes of others. From the story of these women who face the difficulties of living freely, yet struggle to find their own answers and move forward, we are made to realize that we too are carrying fragments of the deep difficulties of life that lurk in our daily lives.

Mori Akihiko's "Dream of the City": Marunouchi Ayumu, a sleepless man living in Shinjuku, goes to a clinic as a last resort to see a doctor, where he is recommended to take part in a clinical trial of f-MRI, a new technology that visualizes dreams. Despite suffering from strangely vivid nightmares and an unclear reality, Marunouchi heads to the trial to understand the true nature of his insomnia. Meanwhile, somewhere in a quiet meadow, a group of sheep realize that they are being "counted" by someone, and begin their fluffy adventure.
Cities and grasslands. People and animals. Stolen dreams and an empty civilization - an unprecedented sci-fi novel about insomnia has been born. This fantasy brilliantly exposes what city life has stolen from the daily repetitive act of sleep, and after reading it, you will want to reexamine the world you live in now.

Aki Kansei "Kowloon Black Gang"
This is a hard-boiled novel set in Kowloon. Two mafias exist in Kowloon during a state of anarchy. One of the mafia's bosses, Billy, of the Bronze Family, is kidnapped. The city is transformed into a melting pot of chaos and violence by angry mafia members. Ray, a senior member of the family, begins a search for the culprit with his friends, but... This is a work that stands out for its tense development and psychological portrayal.

Yuzuka Saito "Goodbye, Light Blue"
The protagonist, Miki, is a high school student, and Ichiyo is a mysterious honor student who attends the same school. One morning, the two exchange words for the first time at the station on the way to school, and then escape school for a short getaway that lasts just one day. Their destination is Kyoto. As they walk, the two reveal the secrets they each harbor, and reveal their own wounds. Where will they head?
The world that the protagonist Miki sees and her fluctuating feelings are depicted with great sensitivity and rich expressiveness, and with each turn of the page you are drawn deeper into the story. It is a deep work that leaves a definite feeling of the story in the palm of your hand after you finish reading it.

Although each author's work is a standalone book, they are bound together by eyelets (like hooks) on the spine to form a single literary magazine.

You can enjoy the world of stories in your favorite style, whether you take them apart to make a book or put them together to make a literary magazine. Each work is also sold individually.
