[What is the Manga Manuscript Reproduction Series?]
The "Manga Manuscript Reproduction Series" is a series that aims to publish classic manga that represent the history of Japanese manga in books, printing the original manuscripts at their original size on Kent paper, a paper often used in manga writing, and binding them in codex binding (special binding) to prevent the throat from bending.
Manga manuscripts are sometimes reproduced as individual pages and exhibited or sold, but this is not the act of "reading."
This series allows you to experience reading the original manuscript, something that is usually only available to the author or their editor; it's like "reading a reproduction of the original."
In recent years, manga is often drawn digitally and submitted as digital data, but manuscripts with the artist's unique brushstrokes engraved on Kent paper with black ink, India ink, a turnip pen, or a green pen are truly "raw" works and are special works of art in themselves.
