"ILLUSTRATION 2025" is the latest edition of the best-selling "ILLUSTRATION" series.
This book features 150 talented artists from across the Japanese illustration scene, which is attracting attention from around the world, from the diverse pop culture to the ever-changing internet culture.
All of the featured artists have been replaced by new artists from the previous edition, "ILLUSTRATION 2024," allowing you to experience the cutting edge of contemporary illustration.
The 2025 cover will be graced by illustrator/artist Nanako Hachidate, who has attracted a great deal of attention both in Japan and overseas for her work based on the concepts of "nostalgia that everyone has" and "the world seen in dreams."
The book design will be handled by Arima Tomoyuki, an up-and-coming designer trusted by many authors.
At the end of the book, there is an interview with Komugiko2000, an animation artist who worked on the music video for Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni, a discussion about the background behind the creation of the new ILLUSTRATION series slogan and emblem, and a special discussion between Nanako Hachidate and Tomoyuki Arima about the production process of the book's cover design.
Starting with this issue, the ILLUSTRATION series has adopted a new slogan: "Human creativity is a shining jewel." We will respect to the utmost the "roots" that each artist has cultivated over time, and the "individuality" and "creativity" that arise from them, and cherish them more than ever before, as something unique and valuable.

Nanako Hachikan
Born in 1998. A painter/illustrator living in Tokyo. Graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design with a major in Western painting. She mainly uses acrylic gouache to paint motifs such as animals, plants, and women. In 2021, she published her first commercial art book, "Wonderland." In addition to exhibiting both in Japan and overseas, she also works on cover illustrations and advertising illustrations.
