Specification The "old days" of today's hottest actresses,
A record of the changing city of Tokyo
Since his debut in 2010, photographer and film director Yoshiyuki Okuyama has been actively releasing his work in numerous photo books and exhibitions, while also releasing a succession of impressive client work. His photo book "The City You Live In," a compilation of the serialization he ran in the magazine "EYESCREAM" over the course of about three years, attracted a great deal of attention not only for its star-studded cast, but also for its innovative approach of shooting only with a Polaroid camera, which brought out a new side of his subjects.
Seven years have passed since its publication and it has been out of print, but now the publisher has decided to re-release it in the form of a reprint.
He faces his subjects face-to-face, carefully communicating with them to build a relationship, and then each photograph, taken as if in a photo session, captures their lively expressions that can't be seen anywhere else.
This work can be described as a superb collaboration born from the combination of the subject's appeal with Okuyama's artistic talent, and it is an important series for Okuyama as it helped him deepen his own expression.
Another main feature of this book is the scenery of Tokyo.
Okuyama's photographs of the city of Tokyo are not only valuable as records of pre-Olympic Tokyo, but also, with his unique perspective and graphical composition, they have been burned onto Polaroid film as one-of-a-kind images.
In producing the reprint, we aimed to create a finished product that would give a sense of update in some areas by keeping the page layout of the original while completely rethinking the printing process and changing the base colour of the cover.
This book allows you to rediscover the city of Tokyo and the "old days" of 35 actresses.
