Specification The third book in the "Lula BOOKS" publishing project by Lula Japan Limited., the publisher of Lula Japan, entitled "Non", will be released on Thursday, July 13th.
Non is an artist who has not only been active as an actress, but has also expanded her horizons to include film, music, and the art scene, captivating many people across generations.
This work, which will be published on her 30th birthday this year, is an art book that connects the "now" and the "future" and weaves her thoughts for a new stage in her life.
The book includes everything from visual stories shot by three photographers, to ribbon art pieces she created herself, a collection of self-writings detailing her current thoughts, exclusive artworks by three overseas artists, and talk shows with internationally renowned guests.
A variety of creative minds came together to create this memorable book that unleashes Non's boundless power of expression.
Right here, right now.
The opening story is a fashion story set in the city, where the "now" is alive. Photographer Takashi Komiyama, who is skilled in graphical expression, has created a world where reality and fantasy resonate. Her dynamic steps on the street point to her current where she has been steadily progressing, and continue to the next step.
Shades of Mine
The second volume includes a fashion portrait that captures a precious moment as Non transitions from her 20s to her 30s. Photographer Masaya Tanaka has used an exquisite sense of balance to bring out the beauty that shines from within Non, dressed in a variety of outfits. Being in between, she shows a new side of herself that we have never seen before, revealing a sensual and refined adult expression.
An eternal rhapsody heard on the breeze
The finale of the visual story shot by photographer Taro Mizutani is an emotional piece that combines tranquility with passion for the "future." The coast surrounded by hills, the rippling water, lush vegetation, and the golden sky. Embraced by the majestic Mother Nature, her powerful gaze that seems to respond to it suggests a future filled with light.
Artworks of Ribbon
Since 2020, Non has been creating ribbon art, an art project using many ribbons. This time, for this book, she has created new ribbon art in which she herself is a part of the work. It is cute and at the same time poisonous, adding a cuteness to creepy and dark things. The dual nature of the ribbon and Non's vital essence come together in this work, and you can feel the great surge of her entering a new stage as an artist.
Self-writing
A collection of handwritten self-writings in which Non writes down her current feelings.
These are words written casually when I wake up in a daze in the morning or when I can't sleep at night.
A private musing from Non, written without any effort or overreach, almost as if she was sighing.
What has changed and what remains the same, what is important, who you are, happiness, memories.
Non's prose, written at the end of her twenties, expresses herself in a relaxed manner.
Little Portrait in Collage
A special artwork was born from a cross-border collaboration with three artists. British artist Ben Lewis Giles creates collages using found photographs of flowers and butterflies, Spanish artist Lorena Olmedo stitches her photographs with colored threads, and Argentine artist Juan Francisco Bertoni combines photographs with energetic paint. Based on previously unpublished childhood photographs of Non, the three artists have created works packed with unique ideas.
Time with Special
Now that she is on the threshold of her 30s, Non holds two interviews with people she would like to meet.
The guests are Yoshitomo Nara, one of the leading contemporary Japanese artists, and CHAI, the "NEO-New Excitement Women's Band" that has been gaining attention overseas. As she shares honest thoughts with the two, who have been friends for a long time, about art and music, sensibilities and values, overseas activities, experiences and changes, and about each other, her current inner self is brought to light.
