[Author] Taku Sato
Graphic designer. Graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Design, in 1979, and completed his graduate studies there in 1981. After working at Dentsu, he founded the Sato Taku Design Office (now TSDO, Inc.) in 1984. ▼Beginning with product development for Nikka Pure Malt, he has worked on package designs for Lotte Xylitol Gum and Meiji Oishii Gyunyu (Tasty Milk), graphic designs for PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE, and the symbol marks for the National Museum of Nature and Science and the National High School Baseball Championship. ▼He has been active in a wide range of fields, including serving as art director for NHK Educational TV's "Nihongo de Asobo," general director of "Design Ah," and director of 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT. In June 2018, he became president of the Japan Graphic Design Association (JAGDA). In 2021, he was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon. ▼His books include "The Whale Was Spewing Water" and "Plastic Thinking." ▼His hobbies are surfing and Latin music.
