This artist book weaves together the words of Leiko Ikemura, a contemporary artist who moved to Europe in her twenties and is now based in Berlin, Germany, where she continues to create ambitious works, with images of her paintings, sculptures, and other works.
Ikemura has been familiar with literature since she was a child and has a keen sense for words, having majored in Spanish at university. She often uses words as a medium for expression, and her poems are also highly acclaimed, with texts exhibited at solo exhibitions and serialized in the magazine "Gendai Shi Techo" (Shichosha). This book is a collection of poems that Ikemura has written over the years since she left Japan, as well as texts detailing the memories and thoughts that formed the basis of her work, along with approximately 70 photographs of paintings, sculptures, and exhibition scenes. The book has been extensively revised for publication, making it a dense volume that condenses the worldview that author Leiko Ikemura currently has in mind.
