About the productJapanese

A collection of works by British photographer Jack Davison. Published by HELIONS, an independent publishing house run by the artist himself.

"Ever since I became a parent, I've always wanted to work on a project that spoke to children," says Jack Davison. His self-published A is for Ant is a surrealist interpretation of a children's alphabet book that celebrates the aspects of life that are important to the author: creativity, play, nature, beauty and humour.

This work has been published in two books with the same title: (Book 1) is a hardcover collection of works, and (Book 2) is a softcover book with a playful design for children, made from newspaper, allowing children to collage and recreate the works as they like.
*A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

"Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by alphabet books, and would often delight my parents in the car by arranging all sorts of creatures in alphabetical order. I remember seeing the Dali Museum for the first time in Figueres, Spain. Its surrealistic works deeply shook my adolescent brain. There was something ostentatious about the surreality of it all, and I remember feeling both excited and slightly frightened." Jack Davison
