Suga Kishio is known as a representative artist of the Mono-ha art movement that emerged in Japan from the late 1960s to the 1970s. His work is characterized by the way he expresses himself through simple actions such as arranging, bending, and combining everyday materials such as stone, wood, and metal, and seeks to find relationships with places and people. This book was published in conjunction with a large-scale solo exhibition in his hometown of Iwate, and features over 110 works from his diverse body of work, including installations, reliefs, drawings, photography, and activations, looking back on his creative activities over the past half century. In addition to two essays, it also includes a recent interview with Suga.
This collection of works provides a comprehensive overview of Suga Kishio's activities, who continues to fundamentally question the very nature of conventional art by discarding preconceived notions and delving into the essence of "things" and "places" based on his own unique philosophy.

If there is a "thing", there must be a "place". I thought that if either one was missing, the work would not come into existence. The reality of the "thing" was also the reality of the "place".
