Contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, who was forced to stay in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has written a book on the theme of his life's work, the Enoura Observatory, from the beginning to the present, interspersed with anecdotes. Each chapter is accompanied by beautiful illustrations and his own waka poems, and the cover is hand-designed by the author, featuring a photo of the teahouse "Uchoten" on the tatami mat.
The Odawara Art Foundation Enoura Observatory is a landscape that took 20 years to develop from conception and opened in 2017. The entire facility is Sugimoto's work, and it continues to expand.
