About the productJapanese

This book traces the path of Peter Lindbergh's pioneering fashion photography over four decades. Through countless collaborations with some of the fashion world's biggest names, the German photographer forged new narratives with his humanistic approach, resulting in iconic shots that are as introspective as they are captivating. This book features over 300 previously unpublished photographs and an updated foreword by Lindbergh in which he shares his thoughts on "so-called fashion photography".

In 1980, Rei Kawakubo asked Lindbergh to shoot a campaign for Comme des Garçons. Kawakubo gave him full permission. Over the next few years, he collaborated with some of the biggest names in fashion. His respect for the great designers of our time is clear in his portraits, including Azzedine Alaïa, Giorgio Armani, Alber Elbaz, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Thierry Mugler, Yves Saint Laurent, Jil Sander and Yohji Yamamoto.

He also discovered the essence and individuality of many emerging models and played a key role in their rise.
