About the productJapanese

This is a collection of works by Spanish photographer Oriol Maspons.

Ibiza, the mecca of nightlife, experienced explosive growth with the "Second Summer of Love" in the late 1980s. This book documents the people, beaches, parties and discos, soaking up the sun, dressing up and then shedding their clothes in this, the most free and liberating place in the world.

Oriol Maspons, who has since passed away, was described by the Museu Nacional D'art De Catalunya (MNAC) as "a pivotal figure in the renewal of the language of photography in Spain in the 1950s and 1960s." He took thousands of early, never-before-seen photographs of Ibiza. He worked in a variety of fields, including journalism, portraiture, fashion and advertising, but when he wasn't working, he spent every summer in Ibiza taking photographs as a hobby from the late 1960s to the late 1980s.

The foreword is by his son, Alex Maspons, who contributed greatly to the publication of the book, and the book was produced by Emma Salahi, founder of Agony + Ecstasy Gallery.
