A collection of works by American photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti. This new expanded edition of her first photo book, published by the American publisher NAZRAELI PRESS in 2005, includes previously unpublished photographs. This book offers a glimpse into life on a small farm in Argentina from the perspective of the animals. These images, often taken from angles close to the ground, depict the courage, struggles and adventures of animals such as chickens, pigs, horses and cows. We witness animals being born, playing and competing for food. Their fates are always uncertain as the human presence inevitably looms over them. With vibrant, almost surreal colors, the photographs recall traditional fables and classic picture books, in which animals act out human actions to teach moral lessons. However, Sanguinetti portrays these animals as individuals, describing their lives from birth to death in a direct, unsentimental way.
