From masterpieces dating back to his student days to more recent works, objects placed here and there in his studio, his treasured records, and various encounters from his birth in Hirosaki, Aomori in 1959 to the present day... This book traces a journey to the "place of beginnings" that shaped Nara Yoshitomo. In order to discover the single trunk that leads to the origins of Nara Yoshitomo's sensibility, the book includes venue photographs and illustrations of his works organized around five themes (Home/Layered Space-Time/Travel/No War/Rock Cafe "33 1/3" and a Small Community), a detailed chronology of Nara, and essays by researchers. Contributions: Masato Goda (philosophy researcher), Josh Kun (music critic), and Shigemi Takahashi (Aomori Museum of Art)
