"What is your dream?" A collection of works by stylist Koji Oyamada

A gorgeous collection of works by 287 subjects and 22 photographers

Oyamada, a stylist, began reaching out to friends and acquaintances in January 2020 and photographing them as subjects. This process was repeated intermittently until May 2023, eventually resulting in 287 subjects and 22 photographers taking the photos.

The photographs were taken in the places where the subjects live or at places that Oyamada visited together, and each time Oyamada added a single piece of clothing or equipment that he had collected to the subjects' outfits for the day, gently stitching and undoing the boundaries between portrait, fashion snapshots, and documentary.

The title "What are you dreaming of?" was inspired by a passage in the PlayStation role-playing game "Chrono Cross." Something that is visible but does not exist. Is what you are seeing a dream? What is dreaming this dream? Please take a look at Oyamada's gaze, which continues to gaze at the fluctuating boundaries between self and other, reality and fiction.

Born in 1985. Graduated from the Department of Fashion Business at Dressmaker Academy. Studied under fashion director Sota Yamaguchi while still a student. After graduation, opened a second-hand clothing store called "Hayatochiri" in the Kitakore Building in Koenji with Yoshimitsu Goto. Has worked as a stylist since 2010.
