This is the official catalogue for the exhibition "Listening to the Sound of the Earth Rotating: Well-being After the Pandemic" (June 29 - November 6, 2022) held at Mori Art Museum.
Since 2020, an invisible virus has taken away our everyday lives, dramatically changing our lifestyles and mindsets. In these circumstances, various artistic expressions, including contemporary art, resonate with us with unprecedented urgency. This exhibition explores how we should live in the new post-pandemic era and what "well-being" means, both physically and mentally, through the diverse perspectives embedded in contemporary art. Works on themes linked to life and existence, such as nature and humans, individuals and society, family, the repetition of everyday life, the spiritual world, and life and death, encourage reflection on what it means to "live well."
The catalogue includes essays and explanations of the works by the exhibition's curators, Kataoka Mami, Kumakura Haruko, and Tokuyama Takuichi, as well as illustrations of the works, including new ones.
