About the productJapanese

This is a photo collection by internationally active photographer Masao Yamamoto, known for his tranquil, poetic style in monochrome.

Based on his belief that humans are only a small part of nature, Masao Yamamoto has painstakingly captured small and insignificant things through photography. He found a commonality between his own creations and bonsai, which represent the expanse of nature and the infinite universe in a limited space.

The title "A Drop in the Hand" is a phrase coined by Masao Yamamoto, which means that "both photography and bonsai are born as if squeezed from the human hand when people come face to face with nature."
In cooperation with one of Japan's leading bonsai artists, Minoru Akiyama, we took bonsai to the foothills of Mount Fuji and the Yatsugatake Mountains, where we photographed them in the midst of magnificent nature.
