[Domon Ken Award winning work]

This photo book was taken by Korean photographer Yang Seung-woo on the streets of Shinjuku between 1998 and 2006. It captures outsider people mainly in Golden Gai, an area synonymous with Shinjuku, and has something in common with the worldview of Seiji Kurata's "Flash Up."

I think that "Shinjuku Lost" is not just a work that comes from the perspective of a foreigner, but is a work that Yang Seung-woo, a man, is drawn into the city of Shinjuku, and ends up in after getting lost in the city. This work made him the first foreigner to win the Domon Ken Award.
