Masahisa Fukase's photo collection "Hibi" is one of the last works he produced as an artist after publishing his masterpiece "Crow."

In the photographs of cracks in the ground, which Fukase himself has painted over, we can see a shift in perspective from the skyward perspective of the "crow" to a downward perspective of the ground, and we are led to wonder what Fukase's perspective and state of mind was at the time. His own shadow, which appears here and there, and the cracks between his shoes and the ground evoke the cracks in Fukase's own heart.

Then, in the middle of creating this work, he fell down the stairs of his favorite bar in Shinjuku Golden Gai, bringing an end to his career as a photographer.
