The "KAIYODO ART PROJECT" produces figures of artists' works so that people can enjoy them up close.
From sculptor Atsuhiko Misawa's popular series "ANIMALS," a lion that is often used as the main visual at many art exhibitions, will be released as a completed soft vinyl figure.

The original work was a life-size wooden statue carved from a block of camphor tree. It has a powerful and imposing presence with its upright body, but at the same time, its uniquely soft and deformed style gives it a familiar appearance. The shape of the figure was confirmed by Misawa and the Kaiyodo sculptor from the very basic stages of modeling. Rather than simply copying the original work, the figure was created under Misawa's supervision, with appropriate adjustments made to the figure's size of approximately 16cm in height to match how it appears to the naked eye, from the overall balance to the lines of the mane and the chisel marks in the wood carving.
The coloring was also supervised by Misawa, and was based on the image he himself conveyed, and after repeated prototypes and revisions, the final product was reached. Enjoy the vivid lion with two types of coloring. A tag with a serial number is included. Each will be delivered in limited quantities.

-Gray Ver.
The grey mane is faithful to the original sculpture by Atsuhiko Misawa, and the pearlescent finish on the white body is a little more subdued. The metallic whites of the eyes are champagne gold, and the different green and blue irises are also eye-catching.

Gold Ver.
The striking gold mane color was decided upon after much discussion with Misawa. The pearlescent paint on the white fur has a stronger shine, and the colors of the bright silver whites of the eyes, ears, nose, claws, paw pads and other details on the body have been adjusted to achieve a more vivid and balanced look.
