▶︎About Ueno Richie
Ueno Lizzi (née Felice "Lizzi" Rix) was born in Vienna in 1893.
He entered the Vienna School of Applied Arts and studied under Josef Hoffmann, who was also a professor there.
After graduating, he joined the Vienna Workshop, where he released a number of new works as a designer and created a print design known as the "Rix pattern."
In 1926, she met and married Isaburo Ueno at Josef Hoffmann's architectural firm.
He returned to Japan with Ueno Isaburo and opened the "Ueno Architectural Office" in Kyoto.
Richie also supported Isaburo's work as head of the arts and crafts department.
