Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1956. Moved to Chiba Prefecture at the age of 14. Debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1977.
His representative works include "Go!! Pirates", "Stop!! Hibari-kun!" and "Age".
His innovative pop sense and unique style of drawing have had a huge impact on the manga world.
In 1992, he won the 38th Bungeishunju Manga Award for his short story collection "Explosion Dinner Show."
Since the mid-1980s, he has been active in many fields, including as an illustrator.
In September 2015, he released his art book "KING OF POP" (published by Genkosha). In conjunction with this, he held his first nationwide exhibition of his work, "Hisashi Eguchi Exhibition: KING OF POP".
POP' was held for a year and a half.
His latest art book "step" (published by Kawade Shobo Shinsha) was released in April 2018.
In April 2018, the "Illustration Exhibition: Kanojo" was held at the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art.
The exhibition will travel to Akashi City Museum of Cultural History in April 2019, and Shimodate Art Museum in Ibaraki Prefecture in July.
In April 2020, the CD jacket artwork collection "RECORD" (published by Kawade Shobo Shinsha) was released.
In March 2021, the "Illustration Exhibition: Girlfriend" Season 2 will tour Aomori, Asahikawa, and Kumamoto.
In addition, her latest art book "Kanojo" (published by Shueisha International) is scheduled to be released.
