Mimei Ogawa (Author/Writer)

Born in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. Novelist and fairy tale writer. Born in 1882 into a family of samurai from the former Takada domain, he studied under Shoyo Tsubouchi while studying literature at Tokyo Senmon Gakko (Waseda University). After graduating, he enthusiastically published fairy tales while writing novels, and published many fairy tales, including "The Red Candle and the Mermaid" (1921), "Wild Rose," and "Sleepy Town." He is still read today as the "father of modern Japanese fairy tales." By the time he died in 1961, he had written around 1,200 fairy tales.

Illustrator. With the motto of "giving form to the invisible and delivering something to someone," she works across the boundaries of various fields, including illustration, writing, and book selection. In addition to exhibiting both in Japan and overseas, she is also involved in creating things that are close to people's lives and in general manufacturing, including the cover illustrations for "Star Diary" (author Yukari Ishii/Gentosha Comics) and "Gentle Music" (author Maiko Seo/Futabasha).

Literary scholar. Majored in modern Japanese literature at Kanazawa University Faculty of Literature and Tsukuba University Graduate School of Literature and Language. Served as vice president and professor at Joetsu University of Education, and is currently a professor at Joetsu University of Education Graduate School. Researches novels and fairy tales from the Taisho and Showa periods, such as Ogawa Mimei, Miyazawa Kenji, and Mishima Yukio, and currently serves as a specialist instructor at the Ogawa Mimei Literature Museum and heads the Ogawa Mimei Research Group. His books include "Getting to Know Ogawa Mimei" and "Fairy Tale Theory Miyazawa Kenji - Purification and Purification" (both published by Sokyu Shorin), and many others.
