Known as a poet, Tanigawa is also a master of picture books, having created a wide variety of picture books over his approximately 70 years of creative activity.
This book is the official catalog of the exhibition "Tanikawa Shuntaro Picture Book Department Store Exhibition" (April 12 - July 9, 2023, PLAY! MUSEUM and others), which focuses on Tanikawa's picture books, and is the definitive edition that covers all of his titles, including picture books that could not be introduced at the exhibition.

A total of 172 works will be introduced with abundant visuals, from "Picture Book," which Tanigawa self-published in 1956 when he was in his 20s, to his latest work, "This is Home," released in 2023.
The book features extensive interviews with Tanigawa about his most memorable works, long-selling works, and landmark works that breathed fresh air into the picture book industry.


Shuntaro Tanikawa
Poet. Born in 1931. Published his first collection of poems, "Two Billion Light Years of Solitude," at the age of 21.
In addition to poetry, he has published a wide range of works including picture books, essays, translations, scripts, and lyrics.
The exhibition "Tanikawa Shuntaro Picture Book Department Store Exhibition" will be held at PLAY! MUSEUM in Tachikawa, Tokyo from April 2023.
