"Hibi" is one of Masahisa Fukase's final works.
Between 1990 and 1992, he photographed the cracks in the ground he passed by every day, burned them onto prints, and colored each print himself. In February 1992, he exhibited these works at his solo exhibition "Private Scenes '92" at Nikon Salon, along with his other series "Private Scenes," "Bukubuku," and "Bero-Bero." Four months later, he fell down the stairs in Shinjuku Golden Gai, sustaining brain damage and bringing an end to his career as an artist.
