The collection includes not only wood carvings, but also numerous three-dimensional works, pen drawings, oil paintings, and more.
Atsuhiko Misawa
Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1961. Graduated from the Master's Program in Sculpture at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 1989.
In 2000, he began creating the "ANIMALS" series of life-sized wooden sculptures of animals. In the same year, he held a solo exhibition at Nishimura Gallery (Tokyo).
In 2007-08, the exhibition toured five museums across the country, including the Hiratsuka Museum of Art (Kanagawa). Since then, he has held numerous exhibitions at museums around the country.
Recent solo exhibitions include the Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art (Fukuoka) in 2021, the Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art in 2022, Chiba City Museum of Art, Ishigami no Oka Museum of Art (Iwate) in 2023, and Niihama City Museum of Art (Ehime) in 2024. Major awards include the 20th Hirakushi Denchu Award in 2021 and the 41st Nakahara Teijiro Award in 2019.
His major collections include "ANIMALS NO.3" and "ANIMALS Multi-dimensions" (both published by Kyuryudo) and "Animal Pictures" (Seigensha).
His works are in numerous public collections. He lives in Kanagawa Prefecture.
