Painter Teppei Takeda works on the theme of "painting paintings for painting's sake," producing highly abstract, yet at the same time very contemporary, paintings that have shocked art professionals not only in Japan but also overseas.

This time, Takeda's second collection of works will be released. This second collection, his first in five years, features completely new flower paintings that only Takeda could paint. The title is "FLOWERS." While choosing what Takeda considers to be the most universal subject matter for painting, he has created images that no one has ever seen before, making this a book that shows Takeda Teppei's new horizons as he strives to update the history of painting and art.

Teppei Takeda

Born in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture in 1978. Graduated from the Visual Communication Design Department of Musashino Art University. Joined Saito Makoto Design Office. Has lived in France since 2003. Returned to Yamagata in 2005 and studied resin and woodworking at Tohoku University of Art and Design. Started creating paintings with his current concept in 2013, and held a solo exhibition "Painting and Painting, That Painting and That Painting" (KUGURU, Yamagata City). In September 2019, his first solo exhibition in Tokyo, "Paintings of Painting," was held at MAHO KUBOTA GALLERY. In 2024, he will hold a solo exhibition, "Just like a flower," at the same gallery.
